After this, you should be able to develop creative elevator pitch examples and create elevator pitch templates for different cases.

What is an elevator speech?

It is a combination of communication, presentation, and one’s ability to compel. Short, and coined after the number of seconds we spend on an average elevator ride, an elevator pitch, if effective, present you or idea or product in the best possible light. How to write an elevator pitch?

1. Who are you?

Every conversation starts with an introduction so should your elevator pitch. First, let your name be known, and if you work for a company include your company’s name and what your role in the company is. Making sure you calmly introduce yourself easily set the tone for the next 75 seconds. Remember, the person or people you are talking to don’t know you, and therefore, keep the introduction short and simple. Some examples are below:

2. What does your company do (value)?

Here, you want to clearly state out what your company’s mission and goals are, and their product and service fit into everyday life. Therefore, you must go straight to the point, but be informative enough. So then, continuing with the previous examples, we can add the following;

3. What do you do (value)?

To begin with, describe your value proposition, and do it well. Hence, make sure you paint yourself in a good light. Next, identify your key strengths and your experience worth and develop a critical highlight. From here, identify your target audience and tweak it to their taste.

4. What do you want?

Now, aim for it. Here, you describe your intentions. This part is the core of your elevator pitch, and therefore, you focus more on how your values help with your intentions. Your intentions could be a job placement, mentorship, internship, networking and so on. So describe your intentions, and how your values help in achieving those intentions, and finally, how such a partnership could be beneficial for both parties.

5. Call to action

Last, hit the nail on the head. Just dive right in and state what you would love to happen next. From a job interview, exchanging of contact information, meeting, idea implementation to requesting for a donation.

Here, a business card would be great for Amit, and for David, an email or profile link would be great. Don’t forget to thank them for their time whether it goes your way or not. However, if it does, a follow-up email alongside the business card works.
